Chobani Greek Yogurt

What is Greek yogurt? Is yogurt which has been strained in a cloth or paper to remove the liquid whey, hence it has a thicker consistency than the regular (plain) yogurt. Greek and plain (regular) yogurt are made by fermenting milk with live bacteria cultures. The only difference is that Greek yogurt has a thicker consistency and creamier taste. When it comes to the nutritional values, both are healthy, a good source of calcium and protein, and help aid in digestion therefore they should be included in the diet regularly.

Last week, a box of delicious Chobani Greek yogurt was delivered to my doorstep. Inside is 12 different flavors of non fat and low fat yogurt: pineapple, mango, strawberry banana,  blackberry, blueberry, blood orange, peach, pomegranate.  I checked out what so special with this yogurt aside from its great taste.
  • They use just milk and cultures to make Chobani yogurt and then authentically strain it so that it’s thick, creamy and chocked full of health benefits.
  • Only natural ingredients. No preservatives. No artificial flavors.
  • Made with milk from cows not treated with rBST: No rBST-treated milk.
  • Includes 5 live & active cultures, including 3 probiotics.
  • Made with real fruit.
  • Two times more protein than regular yogurt.
  • A good source of bone-building calcium.
  • Gluten-Free and Kosher-Certified.
  • Naturally low in lactose: 95% lactose free.

I am a big fan of yogurt so I shared some flavors with my kids. I did it to get to taste all the 12 flavors and compare the taste. Among my favorite were the pineapple, mango, blood orange and blueberry. Just like any other brands, there are flavors that I am not really satisfied. Raspberry and peach are my least favorite. They are a little sour to my liking and not enough fruit at the bottom.

All I can say is that, I love the thickness, creaminess, tartness of the Greek yogurt as well as the jammy layer of fruit at the bottom. The yogurt and the fruit complimented well with each other. I highly recommend this product because of the great taste and nutritional values it gives to our body.

    1. I love yogurts! However, it's too expensive here in the Philippines. In Vietnam, a cup of yogurt is less than 10 pesos only! 3x less than the price of Nestle Yogurt.
