Nutritional Facts: Wild Blackberry



Wild blackberries are smaller than the ones  sold  in stores, but tastes better. I have the plants all over my place back in Oklahoma.  My son loves to pick and eat them almost everyday during the peak season. Blackberry can be used as desserts, jelly, jam, candy and sometimes wine.

Nutritional Facts:

1. They are antioxidants needed by the to fight infection and disease.

2. Blackberries have high nutritional contents of dietary fiber, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid (a B vitamin), and the essential mineral manganese.

3. Blackberries seeds contain some oil which is rich in omega-3 (alpha-linolenic acid) and -6 fats (linoleic acid), as well as some protein, dietary fiber, carotenoids, ellagitannins and ellagic acid.

4. Blackberries contains salicylic acid. Salicylic acid that  helps protect the body against heart disease and has been proven to numb bodily pains and treat unusually high body temperature, or fevers.

  1. my daughter and I also my sister dont really like eating any kind of berries. so what i do is I blend it with our milkshake in the afternoon. strawberries balck berrries altogether berries is very good for kids and adults.

  2. I would really love to see this plant in person! Too bad coz it doesn't grow here in the Phils. :( I want to experience berry picking too...
