Apple Dumplings

The recipe is absolutely delicious and easy to make. The thicken sugar butter sauce makes the dumplings moist and creamy. If you don't have biscuit,  crescent rolls is a good substitute. A  can or soda (mountain dew/sprite) can also use instead of water. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients:

2 Granny Smith apples
1 cup water
1 cup sugar divided
1 stick butter
1/4 tsp. vanilla extract
1 can Biscuits, you can use buttermilk or honey flake.
4 teaspoons cinnamon powder

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease 13x9-inch glass baking dish.
2. Peel, core and cut apples into 8 slices each.Cover with cold water to keep them from getting brown. Set aside.
3. In a medium saucepan, mix the water, 3/4 cup of the sugar, butter and vanilla over heat and bring to a boil.
4. Separate each biscuit in half. Flatten with rolling pin. Wrap biscuit dough layer around a slice of apple, stretching it to slightly overlap and seal the bottom.
5. Place the wrapped slices sealed side down in a 13x9-in baking pan. Pour the hot sugar mixture over the apple slices.
6. Mix the remaining 1/4 cup sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle over dumplings. Bake uncover for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown.
