Tips for Safe Grilling

Grilling is one of the chores that my husband loves to do. He do the grilling while I do the marinating. When it is grilling time, he makes sure that the grill is clean by handing it to me for cleaning.  Then he starts to light the charcoal, and let it burn until all coals are white on the surface. The charcoal should be ashy enough before before placing the food on the grill.

Tips and Warning:

1. Make sure to clean the grill before each use to prevent smoke and fumes that can leave a bad taste on foods.

2. Don't use too much lighter fluid, it can cause flares. Never add lighter fluid to burning coals, it can cause a serious flame once the vapor encounters a flame.

3. Never use gasoline or kerosene to light a charcoal fire. Both can cause an explosion.
4. When lighting the charcoal, keep children and pets away from the grill. Flares and spills may happen, no matter how careful we are

5. Never barbecue inside the house, vehicle or tent. The burning charcoal gives off carbon monoxide that can kill you.

  2. Filipinos love to grill on special occasions. I love grilled chicken here in Saudi Arabia that tastes better than Andoks Manok. Saudis served this grilled chicken with rice called kabsa.

This tips helps me have knowledge for safe grilling, I used plastic soft drink caps in lighting charcoal fire. Since it's sunday now here, It's family bonding, I'm looking for easy Chinese recipes that requires grilling as a method of cooking. I'll try Grilled Lemon Chicken or the Chinese five-spice chicken.
