Beef Steak /Bistek Tagalog

It's been a busy week for me and no time for blogging for a while. But I don't want to miss this weeks Yummy Sunday and Luscious Saturday so I checked out some of my saved photos and got my late entry for this week. One of the easiest food to prepare that everybody loves to eat.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 pc. lemon or 3 calamansi
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 large onion, sliced into rings
  • 1 large green bell pepper, cut into strip
  • 3 tablespoon cooking oil
  • salt to taste

Directions:
  1. Marinate beef in soy sauce, lemon and ground black pepper for at least one hour.
  2. In a sauce pan, heat the cooking oil.  Stir fry the marinated beef (without the marinate sauce) until colors turn brown.
  3. Pour the marinate sauce and bring to a boil.
  4. Turn heat into low medium fire. Cook until meat is tender. Add water as needed.
  5. Just before turning off the fire, add the green bell pepper, onions and some salt to taste. Stir well.
  6. Serve with potato or rice.

  5. The most practical and easiest way for you to learn Tagalog and get acquainted with the local culture is to spend time with any Filipino friends or relatives here in the Philippines.

  6. I am a FilAm mestizo and will be in Manila for a while. I'd like to take courses to better acquaint myself with the culture and finally learn tagalog.

  9. Such a mouthwatering picture you have here! I can almost smell the aroma wafting in the air.Bistek could also come directly from the Spanish ‘bistec’ which means steak.
