Sweetened Banana (Minatamis na Saging)


Looking for saba banana for some Filipino dish? Well, cooking banana or plantain is the best substitute. Plantains contain less sugar and becomes sweeter as it ripens.  My children loves minatamis na saging and turon and plaintain so I make sure to buy some plantains whenever they are available in the market, For this recipe  it is best use the  overripe plantains.


Ingredients :
  • plantain or  saba banana
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • pandan leaves ( optional)
Cooking Procedures : 
  1. Peel bananas and cut into desired slices.
  2. Pour sugar and water in a saucepan. 
  3. Bring  to a boil and then add the banana's and let boil again.
  4. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the bananas are cooked and the syrup is slightly thickens. Add cooked sago pearl (optional)
  5. Remove from heat. Transfer to a dessert plate and serve.
